The Blonde Vic: Our Article Chairs

The Blonde Vic

We discovered the furniture company, Article, a few years ago and were intrigued by the concept. Their model is online-based, and is all about simplifying the furniture buying process by cutting out wholesalers, showrooms, and salespeople.  We made our first purchase from them while designing the Wave coworking space in 2017.  We were looking for a piece that was casual but also durable, and the Cigar sofa fit the bill.

After such a positive experience the first time, we reached out to Article to see if they’d be interested in partnering on a few chairs for our Blonde Vic.  When they said yes, we did a happy dance and started planning!

EMBRACE CHAIRS

We love the elegance of the embrace chair and knew it would be a great fit for our living room at The Vic.  We narrowed down the colors to Rose Pink and Mercury Blue after ordering samples.  Never did we think we’d want to put pink chairs in our home, but seeing these ones made us seriously consider it.

We ultimately ended up choosing the rose, because it felt like the perfect pop of color against the adjacent dark kitchen (which we’ll show you soon!) & all of the white in the room.

The chairs are much heavier than we expected, and the velvet is soft and cleans up easily.  They’re also deep enough to lounge in and really get comfy, which was important to us because… who wants uncomfortable furniture?

Bianca is a fan!

THETIS CHAIRS

In the parlor, we decided to go modern and chose the Thetis tan leather chairs.  Similar to the rest of the house, the parlor feels formal with the wall molding and other details, so going casual on the furnishings makes it feel livable.  They’re so comfortable, the leather is great quality, and they’re much deeper than we expected.  We can fit a pillow on them and still comfortably sit on them.

Thanks again to Article for saying yes to this partnership!  We love sharing brands that we love, and Article is one of them.

Oh and the chairs are great too????

  2. […] Bryan painted both of the abstract pieces in our room with black, white and cream acrylic paint.  He secretly loves to paint, so he was excited to have a chance to create pieces for the event.  We borrowed our leather Thetis chairs from Article from our home (you can find out more details on why we love them so much here). I’m loving the white you used on the walls – looks like it has a twinge of gray? What color is it?

I grew up in New Jersey and always had a dream of living in New York.  There was something about the energy of the city that drew me inOur journey started unexpectedly in 2012, when we decided to make a big move from New York to Columbus. The glamour of climbing the corporate ladder was wearing off, and we knew that renting an expensive small apartment and dealing with crowded subways everyday was not going to work forever. We wanted to start creating something for ourselves, and although we didn’t know exactly what that something was, we knew NYC wasn’t the place for it.

We decided on Columbus because Bryan grew up here, and we were intrigued by all of the development going on in the downtown area at the time. We drove through many of the neighborhoods and admired the boarded up old houses, most of which were built in the early 1900s, and started dreaming about the things we could do here.

I'm Catherine, and I'm the founder of Beginning in the Middle.
